An uncommon lead oxide, this specimen features crystals of reddish orange minium, to 1 cm in length, rising vertically above their matrix. Very dramatic! While minium has been reported from multiple localities around the world, those from Broken Hill mines formed during mining fires in the late 1800s-early 1900s, in which cerussites were basically scalded and morphed into these fiery orange crystals.
