The Itrongay region of Madagascar has produced the finest gem crystals of Orthoclase. This miniature is VERY RARE AND LARGE for the fine condition it is in, only being cleaved at the bottom where contacted. The crystal is 100% gem, golden, totally transparent, with many of the crystal faces present. The faces are glassy and textured with small, curvy trenches that look like subparallel and tiny worm tracks. This gem Orthoclase's mass is 61 grams. Specimen of this quality for both gemminess and luster WITH a good form at the same time, are quite uncommon although they have trickled out slowly for years.
