Perovskite is an uncommon calcium titanium oxide. This single crystal is notable for its size and elongated shape, both of which are unusual for the species. The metallic luster is excellent, and there is only a small bit of matrix attached, so you see all sides and crystal faces. Most Perovskites from this area, which contains the type locality, are pseudocubic. This classic, old Russian find displays well and sits nicely for viewing, and will stump most people who look at it because of its elongated form!
