Quartz var. Amethyst on Fluorite

I cannot recall seeing good deep amethyst with Fluorite crystals from anywhere, except a few unusual finds in India (and those fluorites were spheres, not octahedra). What a unique and colorful sparkly specimen from China! This two-tone cabinet piece is deceptive and the two purples represent different mineral. The white matrix is massive granular Quartz which provides great contrast for the crystalline base of dark purple, conspicuously stepped-growth Fluorite crystals that cover the display surface followed by a later stage of scintillating, lavender clusters of Quartz crystals. There are at least six rounded to elongate groups of radial divergent Amethystine Quartz crystals made up of stout, 3 to 5 mm crystals. The individual crystals have translucent amethystine cores and are more transparent at the terminations where there are darker Amethyst areas near the tips. This is a colorful and multi-textured piece from a unique pocken at this lesser known mine in China found in 2021. So far as we know, this was about half the pocket, the biggest and best piece.
