2.3 mm across (largest crystal). The Venice Salt Dome is 31 miles southeast of Pointe a la Hache in Louisiana, an area that was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. This locality is best known for its Chambersite specimens, although the crystals are very small. Chambersite is a member of the Boracite Group and is the manganese analogue of Boracite and Ericaite. The species is orthorhombic, and the crystals typically show a pseudo-tetrahedral habit. This fifteen piece set features crystals measuring up to 2.3 mm across and range in color from purple to pink with good translucency. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
