A shockingly large Tsavorite garnet crystal, featuring unusual elongation on one axis that gives it an unusual vertical dimension. This size for a tsavorite is nearly unheard of, and the crystal glows with color. It has internal fracturing and also some inclusions of graphite which actually make the color more intense, not less. The crystal is complete all around the display face and sides, with only one small ding on one corner. It is contacted on most of the backside, but that is irrelevant to the display face in any case. Overall, it is just large and impressive as a specimen, when so many of these simply are not. From 2013 finds. Joe Budd photos.
