Kyanite is usually a pretty boring mineral, embedded in massive quartz and therefore seen mostly in "clunky" specimens. It is also generally opaque. Here, though, you have a really sculptural specimen, with a strikingly elegant 9-cm crystal rising next to some smaller ones, and with fine blue color and translucency. Due to the naturally rough terminations of kyanites, it is extremely difficult to tell if the crystals are terminated are not.
