Sugilite is a rare potassium, sodium, iron, manganese, aluminum, lithium silicate. Lavender to purple sugilite microcrystals richly and attractively cover two sides of the hefty, banded hematite matrix on this fine specimen from the Wessels Mine of South Africa. The crystals are small, but bright and colorful. Ex. Rob Smith Collection.
