This is a huge superb specimen of so-called "velvet" malachite from Congo. There are hundreds of sprays of shimmering, silky crystals here, densely intergrown. There is no matrix here - it is all malachite, and in fact, all velvet malachite - not just some of it on a clunky matrix.
