A starkly contrasting, superb combination piece from the famous Minerva # 1 (now Ozark-Mahoning #1) mine in southern Illinois. The Fluorites have very good luster and gemminess, with five color zones of phantoms within. Classic Minerva style! The Fluorites rest on a rare matrix we seldom see, of white, botryoidal Baryte. The Baryte overlays and itself rests on, and is penetrated by, Sphalerite. The Fluorites fluoresce a light purple, while the Baryte a variable whitish-orange. Excellent aesthetics, and in mint condition, this is a truly special piece of a very rare style. Mined in late 1992.
