A highly unusual piece that shows something bizarre happened in this pegmatite pocket. The crystal of schorl is dissolved inwards from the top, with the clear remnants of what was once a sharp termination and is now like a volcano's caldera, with a sunken pit inside. Shooting up from the middle of that pit is a quartz crystal.
