Unusually isolated and discrete, equant, crystals of transparent greass-green demantoid, to 1 cm across, are perched high on a contrasting massive garnet matrix (the matrix having once been limestone, now itself metamorphosed to garnet). These crystals are sharp, and gemmy, though have medium luster. They are so sharply formed, though, that they look carved in their textbook symmetries. And, overall, this is a great example from the finds for the price and size rage, trading a little bit on luster to get the quality of form and isolation aesthetics.
