A light green to colorless gemmy crystal of fluorite 1.5 cm in size on a matrix of crystallized black sphalerite. Nice combination piece. The El Solar Mine, situated within the historic mining district of Taxco de Alarcon in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, has a rich heritage of metal extraction dating back to the colonial era, with intensive mining activities expanding significantly from the eighteenth century onward. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within a complex sequence of Cretaceous limestone and Tertiary volcanic rocks that were intruded by Cenozoic granitic and subvolcanic bodies, creating favorable pathways for hydrothermal fluid circulation. Mineralogically, the hydrothermal veins of the Taxco district are world-renowned for their polymetallic sulfide assemblages, producing exceptional specimens of silver-bearing minerals, quartz, calcite, and various base metal sulfides.
