One of the Holy Grails of all collectors has to be this style of gemmy transparent, elongated scalenohedral rhodochrosites from a single small zone of this monstrously large manganese mine in the Kalahari Manganese Field. A rare and pristine cluster of classic early 1980s N'Chwaning Mine rhodochrosite, this piece stands out for its dramatic display of multiple crystals, with the smaller ones balancing and highlighting the 3.5-cm-tall dominant crystal. This is a hugely important miniature because most were damaged and this is pristine: only a few transcend the average specimen of single points or clusters between 1-2 cm, often with all damaged tips. This is more volumetric and space filling than most, and is really a perfect miniature.
