This is an imposing specimen that makes you do a double take when you hold it; and it takes a moment to digest this is Mexican, not Tsumeb. A vivid blue, pristine, doubly-terminated sharp crystal of azurite makes for a dramatic statement piece as a single crystal. It is so lustrous that it is practically metallic, and reflective! This is from a very specific and now legendary find of big pristine crystals, all of which are now off market in major collections - some of which will never be seen again. Many consider this style to be the ultimate large azurite crystal style in terms of importance, and the refined sharpness and luster, surface smoothness and look, beats nearly all the best examples from older finds elsewhere...even from Tsumeb. An unusual dramatic geometric habit for Milpillas. Wayne and I were among the top importers of Milpillas material from 2008 or so; and partnered many deals. He later brokered many if not most of the best specimens and lots coming into the USA, which he purchased from the "Three Jesuses": Jesus, his son Jesus, and his son-in-law Jesus, in a huge pickup truck. This was from one of those deals around 2010, and kept since then in Wayne's personal collection of Miniatures/Thumbnails built with his daughter, Stevia. Although Milpillas produced many - thousands - of azurite specimens, this one still stands out in its style and size class, which is why he kept it. Laszlo Kupi photos.
