A very dramatic and colorful miniature featuring a 3-cm-long crystal, and others, all perched on a rounded knoll of velvety, contrasting malachite! This is from important finds around 2012-13 and this style is now legendary and not on market. The crystals are saturated and a deep blue - not too dark nor too light; and with superb luster. The cluster is complete all around except only a few small dings on the rear or rear-facing. NOTE: although shot as a vertical by Laszlo Kupi when he photographed Wayne's collection (which I also like!), the piece actually, to my eye, works even better when set horizontally with the azurites in the middle and flanked by tufts of green on either side. It is a personal decision, no wrong choices here! Wayne was instrumental in handling many of the Milpillas pockets of this time; and kept a group of choice miniatures for himself at the time they came out - all chosen for beauty, balance, condition, and color.
