This is a balanced combination specimen that shows off the best brilliant blue color of Milpillas, set against the best contrast of velvety green malachite. The crystal is complete, pristine, sharp, and measures 1.6 cm tall. The perfectly balanced aesthetics here make this a world-class combo and particularly a dramatic example from this famous mine. Mined in the early 2010s, probably 2012-13, this is a uniquely elegant piece. Note that, as is, it is a small miniature. The back extension of matrix can be trimmed to make this an even more balanced thumbnail specimen. Wayne and I were among the top importers of Milpillas material from 2008 or so; and partnered many deals. He later brokered many if not most of the best specimens and lots coming into the USA, which he purchased from the "Three Jesuses": Jesus, his son Jesus, and his son-in-law Jesus, in a huge pickup truck. This was from one of those deals around 2010, and kept since then in Wayne's personal collection of Miniatures/Thumbnails built with his daughter. Although Milpillas produced many - thousands - of azurite specimens, this one still stands out in its style and size class, which is why he kept it. Laszlo Kupi photo.
