A cluster of pink inesite crystals, these coated with micro sparkling crystals of colorless fluorapophyllite. In good condition.The Fengjiashan Mine, situated in Daye County under the administration of Huangshi, Hubei Province, China, operates within the highly mineralized Edong mining district. While the broader Daye region features a copper and iron mining history spanning over three thousand years, modern commercial operations at Fengjiashan developed extensively during the latter half of the twentieth century to extract polymetallic ores. Geologically, the deposit is a skarn-type system formed by the intrusion of acidic magmatic rocks into carbonate strata, creating complex hydrothermal replacement zones. Mineralogically, the mine has achieved world-renowned status among collectors for producing exceptional specimen suites, most notably serving as the type locality for the rare sorosilicate mineral hubeite, alongside stunning associations of inesite, apophyllite, quartz, and calcite. Exact opening and closing dates for individual shafts remain poorly documented in standard Western historical records due to its operation as part of China's localized state-managed mining framework.
