Glassy gemmy set of two colorless crystals of quartz with attractive blue inclusions of dumortierite. In good condition. Size provided for the larger of the two examples. The Vaca Morta quarry, situated in the Serra da Vereda region of Bahia, Brazil, is located within the ancient metasedimentary rock formations of the Proterozoic Espinhaço Supergroup. Geologically, the area is characterized by highly deformed and metamorphosed sequences that include quartzites, schists, and localized massive mineral pods shaped by extensive regional tectonic activity. Historically, mining and quarrying operations in this mountainous terrain have targeted the unique metamorphic rocks and quartz veins, gaining international renown in the mineral collecting and lapidary markets for producing exceptional decorative stones and crystal specimens.Dumortierite is a fibrous or acicular mineral that frequently occurs here as vibrant blue inclusions trapped inside highly transparent, gemmy colorless quartz crystals. These inclusions often form delicate, hair-like bundles, wispy plumes, or dense radial clusters that appear to float inside the host quartz, creating a striking visual contrast that makes specimens from this Bahian locality exceptionally prized by collectors and gem cutters.
