Clusters of large colorless calcite crystals measuring to 6.5 cm across on matrix with quartz and sphalerite. In terrific condition. The Osikovo deposit, associated with the Septemvri Mine within the Madan ore field in the Smolyan Province of southern Bulgaria, is situated in the structurally complex metamorphic terrain of the Rhodope Massif. Geologically, the deposit consists of Tertiary hydrothermal vein systems and replacement bodies hosted in crystalline schists and marbles, formed through intense magmatic and tectonic activity that introduced rich polymetallic mineralization. Historically, mining in the wider Madan district dates back to antiquity, with organized lead and zinc extraction evolving into intensive industrial underground mining operations during the mid-twentieth century.
