Elegant and delightfully arranged, this elegant miniature is from the famous Huanggang Mines in China. It features a totally GEMMY, colorless Fluorite crystal (2.5 cm across) with a sharp, modified cuboctahedral form, framed gracefully by a pair of Smoky Quartz crystals. The Fluorites from here can be remarkably transparent and highly lustrous, completely free of the zoning! True colorless Fluorites such as this are actually quite rare, making the purity of these crystals especially desirable. The Quartz itself adds further sophistication. Subtly sceptered and lightly serrated, it provides both contrast and balance, and is a fascinating growth feature that enhances its visual complexity. There is Calcite along the base of the Quartz, and it exhibits bright orange fluorescence. Ex. Dr. Stephen Smale Collection.
