The Brandberg area of Namibia, including the Goboboseb Mountains, is renowned for its outstanding and recognizable Amethyst specimens. Very often, these Amethysts contain dramatic, deep-purple phantoms, as we have here. Fully 2/3 of this gemmy and water-clear crystal is occupied by the richly-colored phantom. With good luster and such gemminess, the contrasts help the phantom stand out very nicely, giving this single crystal a complex, and aesthetic appearance. Pristine except for one small ding on the upper-right of the termination, which could be restored in the lab (although it is not so obvious in person, and we did not feel the need). Old material from the early 2000s, from the renowned collection of Charlie Key, who specialized in Namibian minerals. Better in person.
