Large and impressive, yet delicate and refined in its beauty, this cluster of Tincalconite crystals is from the Rio Tinto Borax Mine (U.S Borax Mine) in Boron, an area famous for its extensive evaporite deposits. This is a stunning specimen that is so sharp, it looks carved. It is so rare to find them preserved like this, and complete all around as well. Tincalconite, pure white and soft, is a pseudomorph that forms from the dehydration of Borax, and it retains the original habit exceptionally well. The largest of the crystals is 7 cm across, and the aesthetics of this cluster, dominated by the staggered sets of crystals, is outstanding. Al Ordway's label indicates he self-collected it in 1963 (his label is included). Ex. Al Ordway and Dr. Wouter Van Tichelen collections. They are so lightweight you really have trouble believing these are natural crystals, but they are. This is just outstanding.
