Deep blue bladed crystallized azurite across the top of matrix. This is in very good condition. The Shannon Mine, located in the Morenci district of Greenlee County, Arizona, is a historic copper-producing property operated by the Shannon Copper Company starting in the early twentieth century. Geologically, the deposit is situated within a major porphyry copper system where extensive hydrothermal activity altered Precambrian granite and Paleozoic sedimentary rocks, producing rich zones of secondary copper enrichment. Early operations focused on high-grade oxide and carbonate ores, while subsequent underground development targeted underlying sulfide minerals. The historic workings and surrounding district became famous for yielding exceptional secondary copper specimens, particularly striking combinations of azurite and malachite.
