Metallic crystallized nagyagite on matrix with quartz and rhodochrosite. The specimen comes with several previous labels as shown at the end of the video, one of these from the University of Arizona. Good reference quality example for this Romanian classic. The Sacarimb mine, historically known as Nagyag, located in Hunedoara County, Romania, is situated within the Metaliferi Mountains of the Apuseni Mountains region. Historically, mining operations date back centuries, with intensive gold and silver extraction ramping up during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, making the district one of the classic metallogenic areas in Europe. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within a Neogene volcanic structure involving calc-alkaline andesitic rocks. The underground veins are famous among mineral collectors as the type locality for several rare telluride minerals, most notably nagyagite, alongside native gold, quartz, rhodochrosite, and barite.
