An attractive gemmy scepter quartz specimen. The top is purple in color with red inclusions of hematite. In great condition. Classic for this locality.Denny Mountain, located near Snoqualmie Pass in King County, Washington, is named in honor of the pioneer Denny family influential in early Seattle history. Geologically, the area is renowned for the Denny Mountain skarn deposit, which formed through thermal metamorphism and metasomatism when the intrusive granodiorite of the Snoqualmie Batholith reacted with older sedimentary and volcanic strata. While the region saw early prospecting interest for industrial minerals and iron, it is best known today among mineral collectors for the complex canyon drainages near Denny Creek. These exposures yield a diverse assemblage of well-crystallized skarn and hydrothermal minerals, including grossular garnet, epidote, diopside, scheelite, and highly prized quartz habits such as Japan-law twins and hematite-included scepters.
