Here we have a surprising thing, with words I never thought I would put together in the same phrase: a world-class feldspar thumbnail. Yet, that is what it is (and yes, we had it analysed to check). This lavender-colored feldspar is a unique gem transparent crystal, with unusual elongation. It is a strange thing, already; and then as a bonus has inclusions of acicular schorl (tourmaline) needles running throughout. There are enough needles to be a noticeable accent, but not too many to be a distraction. This was a one-time pocket and find, perhaps around 2020 when we obtained it. We value it highly as it is so difficult to obtain a truly imposing feldspar in gem thumbnail sized quality; and this should really fit into a number of sophisticated collections of gem crystals as well. Other than the common Madagascar sanidine (which all look relatively similar anyhow), I cannot recall such a gemmy feldspar in this size and quality. Sadly, we only obtained this one piece.
