An old rhodochrosite from the famous Wolf mine in Germany is a worldwide classic for the species, seldom seen for sale. This is a particularly fine example, featuring several clusters of red-orange, translucent, botryoids on a limonite matrix. The largest spherical cluster measures 1.5 cm across. This piece has FAR better color than you normally see on such German rhodochrosite specimens, which date to the late 1800s or early 1900s. This specimen came from the old personal collection of the Shales dealership in LA in the early 1900s, which was purchased by Bill Larson. I bought it in the early 2000s and sold to Rich geiger at the time.
