A classic of old American mining, these antique Butte District rhodochrosites date to the mid-1900s, in Montana. This is a very sharp specimen with top quality luster and color for a Montana rhodo, and the lustrous, strawberry-red crystal measures 2.3 cm across. It is highly significant as a locality specimen and as an American rhodochrosite both. From the collection of Don Schulz of Rochester. Don, a friend of the late Bill Pinch, was a sophisticated collector who donated many of his minerals to Rochester Academy of Science, as well.
