While we have seen many China rhodochrosites, this has to rank among the cutest, most balanced miniature sized examples of the “disc-shaped" style that we know of. This is from famous finds around 2005-7. Many were mined, but they were mostly larger crystals and very few had such elegance to them. This is balanced, complete all around, and highlights a 3 cm crystal in the middle. The color is a pleasing strawberry-red hue. All crystals are perfect and translucent. The icing on top is the association with a translucent, gemmy sparkling fluorite crystal. While this location has continued to sporadically produce specimens, nothing similar to this has come out since that time. This is a time capsule of what was, and which most of us do not and will not have a chance to acquire until collections recycle.
