The ArkenstoneFeatured
This unusual rhodochrosite is different than most other Chinese specimens, and comes from a small pocket or zone of the mine, and the early 2000s. The mine later yielded huge crystals and specimens, but this older, elegant style never came out again. The crystals look like candied Oreo sandwiches made of rhodochrosite with a strawberry-red center "filling" and pastel pink outer layers around the center. The look of them in person is very subtle, but elegant. The piece has crystals reaching to 4 cm, and is complete all around. A very refined example of an early, rare style of rhodochrosite from China. Why is rhodochrosite so rare in China, we have no idea...but it is.
