Very choice cluster of large non-lustrous acanthite crystals without matrix. This is complete all around and in super condition. Quite choice for the species. The Imiter mine, located in the eastern Anti-Atlas mountain range of Morocco, is a world-class silver deposit known for producing exceptional specimens of native silver and acanthite. Geologically, the deposit is a Neoproterozoic epithermal vein system hosted within black shales, siltstones, and volcanic tuffs of the Saghro Group. Intense structural faulting and hydrothermal activity during the Pan-African orogeny channeled silver-rich fluids into regional fault zones, depositing native silver wires, amalgam, acanthite, and mercury-bearing minerals within quartz and carbonate veins. Historical mining at the site dates back to ancient times, with intensive exploitation recorded during the Islamic golden age between the eighth and twelfth centuries. Modern commercial underground operations commenced in 1969 under the management of the Societe Metallurgique d'Imiter, a subsidiary of the Managem Group. Industrial extraction and processing have expanded continuously through multiple shaft and mill upgrades, making it one of the largest active silver-producing operations in Africa well into the twenty-first century.
