A CLASSIC old-time (1800s) smoky quartz on hematite from the West Cumberland Iron Field in Cumbria, England. These smoky quartz specimens are iconic for the area, and are unmistakable for their beta-type quartz appearance and contrasting hematite matrix. This historic specimen comes from the famed UK collections of both David Corse Glen (1824-1892) Richard Barstow – eventually making it into the Spann collection.
