The beginning of this decade saw the emergence of a new find of outstanding and distinct Fluorites from the Pasco region of Peru. While many great mineral species have been produced in Peru, these emerald green Fluorites are new and unique. Not only are these gemmy, modified cuboctahedrons a wonderful and deep green color, but their associations are unique for the region. In this case, the 2.8 cm Fluorite crystal is partially overgrown on a cluster of shiny gold Pyrite pyritohedrons. The Pyrites have mirror-like luster, and the striations add even more to the beauty of these crystals. The Fluorite has a gorgeous, purple-blue fluorescence, and the crystal is so gemmy that you can clearly see the included Pyrites. For this recent find, this is a very desirable and cute large thumbnail or small miniature sized specimen.
