The historic Sunnyside Mine (referred to as the "Standard Mine" by the locals) has produced some of the most attractive green Fluorite specimens from any mine in Colorado. They are mostly small crystals and small pieces. This, however, is a monster! This cabinet sized display piece hosts attractive, nicely-formed, gemmy, fine green octahedral (less common than cubes) crystals on an earlier generation of Fluorite matrix. No repairs and no restorations, this is a significant specimen in natural condition. The shade of green is rich and attractive, and the two large octahedra are 7.7 cm and 5 cm on edge, respectively. The fluorescence is a classic, vivid purple-blue. This is one of the finer, and larger, Sunnyside Fluorites that you will see, let alone find available. Ex. George Loud, a previous old German collection. Better in person. Note from his catalog notes shown here that George bought this from a foreign international dealer, whom he figured simply did not know how significant this actually was for a USA classic! He evaluated this immediately as a $10k specimen - in 2016; and at the time of purchase. A super lucky find to get repatriated to the USA! Our valuation is based on George's own knowledgeable valuation; and that this is certainly the most significant large example from this mine on the market.
