This attractive large thumbnail-sized specimen is a competitive level for the species and comes from the Jeffrey Mine in Canada. The specimen highlights elongate prismatic crystals that vary from 1.2 to 2 cm in length and has extraordinary gemminess to them. The large crystal is flanked on one side by several, glassy, lustrous, transparent, prismatic crystals of Pectolite that are growing at an angle from a matrix of tightly divergent groups of bladed to acicular Pectolite on the other side. Dark green clusters of crystals to 4 mm are interpreted here to be Vesuvianite, however, we are not certain. This piece likely came out in the 1970s-1980s glory years here. This is from the important collection of aesthetic rare species assembled over 50 years by the well-known Mannheim, Germany collector Paul Stahl. It is a superb and beautiful piece, one of his few thumbnail sized specimens, but kept because of the high quality even as he sold off other thumbnails. Ex. Paul Stahl collection - 28923.
