Adamite, zinc arsenate hydroxide, is a secondary species found in the near surface oxidation zone of zinc-bearing orebodies but is rarely seen in anything larger than microcrystals. That is, with the exception of the famous Ojuela mine in Durango, Mexico. At Ojuela mine, Adamite is one of the major secondary species found within the rusty gossan. Not only does it form exceptionally large crystals for this species, but in a range of wonderful forms, including a variety of colours depending on associated trace elements. This small cabinet-sized specimen presents the very pale lemon-yellow variety, as fan-like radial crystal sprays that stand out nicely against a backdrop of orange-red iron oxide coated matrix. This is a really good size for display for this ordinarily very rare species and in wonderful condition.
