This is a classic example of "older" Afghani material from the 1990s-early 2000s, with these very composed multicolored tourmaline crystals standing like a "V" shape nestled within the matrix of lepidolite (as flowery lavender blades) with white cleavelandite; and all set against a mountainous background of quartz. We obtained this in an old collection and can sell it at lesser cost than it could be bought for today at the sources! That being said, it literally is "from the mines" and without any modern lab work or restoration/enhancement. There is one clean lock-fit repair to the leftmost tourmaline, and the tourmalines are otherwise undamaged or repaired/restored as is typical of such larger clusters in today's market. The quartz has some damage to the left tip, but this is only obvious up close; and it looks great on a shelf with the overall composition and horizon lines of the contrasting tourmaline and quartz tips. This is one of those specimens that is, honestly, the "bargain version" of the more pristine version of this aesthetic - and therefore, a lot of impact for the price. Long in the collection of Dr. Vasco Trancoso (Lisbon).
