Moving Enhydro

132g Smoky Amethyst Twinned Scepter from the Shangaan region, Chibuku Mine, Zimbabwe. This specimen shows a classic double‑scepter formation with strong smoky coloration, deep amethyst zoning, and visible twinning in the stepped, offset terminations. The crystal displays sharp faces, high luster, and the distinctive scepter geometry that defines this locality.

A moving enhydro is present within the crystal, showing a freely shifting bubble inside a natural fluid cavity. Shangaan scepters are known for complex internal structures, and moving enhydros are one of the most sought‑after features due to their rarity and the geological conditions required for their formation.

Color zoning transitions from smoky quartz in the stem to violet amethyst in the cap, created through natural irradiation and trace iron within the quartz lattice. This mine is renowned for producing some of the world’s most dramatic smoky amethyst scepters, often with exceptional clarity, twinning, and internal life.
