Presenting a classic, lead-based supergene assemblage from the famous Susanna mine at Leadhills in Scotland, this fine older specimen comes from the collection of Roger Harker who was a major, upcoming mineral dealer during the 1970s alongside Richard Barstow, but by the mid-1980s both had died. Roger Harker's distinctive handwritten label affixed to the specimen records that he obtained it in 1972, but how is not noted. This dense specimen consists of a Cerussite matrix interspersed with flashes of yellow Pyromorphite, but Harker's label records Lanarkite and Leadhillite both of which are Type Locality species from Susanna mine. The reason for this is the bowl-shaped cavity sitting in the display surface of the specimen which is lined with very lustrous, blade-like crystals, along with a 12 x 7 mm area of platy pale cream-coloured pearlescent Leadhillite. You might then wonder why there is no mention of Lanarkite on our label - the reason being that despite considerable study we believe that the bladed crystals are most likely Anglesite, not Lanarkite. However, the Leadhillite is pretty good and from the Type Locality.
