The distinctive combination of intense purple Fluorite crowned by isolated sprays and wider layers of characteristic short, stocky, glassy, pale cream coloured terminated Quartz crystals make specimens from Ten Strike mine at Klondyke, Graham Co., Arizona, USA instantly recognizable. Even so, they are rare, and getting a good one is hard. This very large miniature specimen is exceptional for its quality, especially its overall aesthetics. The bed of purple Fluorite is made up of many octahedral crystals, showing as pyramidal tops and upon these the nicely spaced sprays, individual crystals, and more extensive layers of perfectly terminated short prismatic Quartz crystals allow enough of the purple Fluorite to poke through to produce a really attractive display. Specimens from Ten Strike mine appear to have come out during the early 1990s and again in about 2009, but always in very limited quantities and rarely in such perfect quality. Ex Paul Matt.
