This is a rarely seen complex crystallized Fluorite from the Buckskin Mountains in La Paz County, Arizona, USA. Combining a cube, dodecahedron and octahedron, the fascinating crystals on this larger miniature-sized specimen are figured (Figure 21) in Arvid Pasto's 2009 book, Collector's Guide to Fluorite. Ex Arvid Pasto Collection, no. AEP937, we do not know when he acquired it, or the specific mine, but similar crystals have been reported from Heson mine, but older specimens (c. 1980s) from that area were all vaguely labelled as from the Buckskin Mountains. The Fluorite crystals are not brightly coloured, but do have a purple hue and reach 1.4 cm across. A later overgrowth of white platy Calcite crystals covers one side of the specimen but the excellent shape of the Fluorite crystals is thankfully kept clear.
