Located in the Hansonburg District, Socorro County, New Mexico, USA, the White Sands Prospect is probably within the nearby White Sands Missile Range. The White Sands Prospect, like many of the mines and trials within the Hansonburg District has produced fine Fluorite crystals in rich colours - in this case purple. This lovely crystallized small cabinet specimen comes from Arvid Pasto's fine Fluorite collection and presents a really nice colour zonation, with deep purple lines along the edges of the cubic crystals and paler purple matt interiors to the crystal faces, with some around the edges looking much bluer. A single cream-coated, partially oxidized Galena cube sits amongst the purple Fluorite crystals. The Fluorite crystals are well-formed and in great condition, with just few very slight chips to the edges to be seen. Individually, the Fluorite crystals reach up to 1.5 cm on edge. A fine New Mexico Fluorite.
