A charming French Quartz specimen from the historic locality of Isère, consisting of a jackstraw forest of well-formed, elongated, needle-sized translucent Quartz crystals integrated with a dominant Japan Law twinned Quartz crystal. This is a very rare twin from the locality! It comes from the well-known French collection of Eric Asselborn, via exchange to Larson long ago. Note it is also mine-run, as found; and not labbed clean to make sparkly and remove the pocket clay as most modern production would do. The featured crystal is a classic Japan Law twin having two flattened crystals forming a “V-shaped” geometry with the twinning plane at the center. The larger left crystal is 3.6 cm long with the right at 2.2 cm. The translucent yet slightly cloudy crystals have partially textured front faces and appear to be more frosted on the back. The upper back of the terminations has white to gray clay(?) coatings resulting in a grayish optical effect in the tips when viewed from the front. The piece is in excellent condition with only minor contacting to the back of the main crystal that doesn't impact the display view. A great example of a Japan Law twin Quartz with accessory Quartz needles providing a nice aesthetic on a contrasting matrix. Ex. Eric Asselborn, Ex. William (Bill) Larson Quartz Collection. This collection was built since the 1980s and on exhibit for decades in his jewelry and mineral store in Fallbrook, California.
