This specimen is a well‑formed smoky amethyst scepter from the Shangaan region of the Chiredzi District in Zimbabwe. The crystal displays a distinct scepter habit, with a pronounced amethyst head growing over a narrower smoky stem. The color zoning is sharp and characteristic of Shangaan material, transitioning from deep violet in the cap to smoky and brownish tones in the lower body.

The termination shows natural stepped growth and internal zoning, giving the piece depth and visual interest. Subtle inclusions and internal veils are typical of quartz from this locality and add to the overall character of the specimen. Shangaan scepters are known for their dramatic contrast, strong presence, and expressive growth patterns, and this piece is an excellent example of that style.

A fine collector specimen representing one of Zimbabwe’s most recognizable quartz‑producing regions.

Note - All pics have back lighting to show color zoning.
