Tucson, Arizona, USAThe rare silver iodide species Iodargyrite was reported from the Broken Hill mines in the late 19th century and it is widely accepted that the world's richest specimens came from those mines. Many specimens are therefore of considerable age. This very rich miniature specimen was formerly owned by C. Johnstone (no. 931) and comprises the classic association of elongated waxy pale sulphur-yellow Iodargyrite crystals spanning a cavity within white kaolinized wall-rock. The complex Iodargyrite crystals reach 1.5 cm in length and the rich aggregate covers an area of 3.4 x 2.1 x 1.5 cm. A very rich Iodargyrite.
