Baryte
Unknown Owner
An attractive aggregate of slightly pearlescent pale blue-grey Baryte crystals developed in florette-like growths reminiscent of some Romanian specimens. Fine Baryte specimens started to appear from the Oumjrane mining area in Morocco, in around 2018, and this is one of those. The Baryte came in many forms, but larger cream-coloured individual well-formed orthorhombic crystals appear to have dominated. Blue crystals are much more uncommon, but generally smaller and in complex aggregates. This specimen features many overlapping, intergrown, centimetre-size Baryte crystals. There is minor damage to a few of the Baryte crystals, but overall it displays very well and stands without support. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
