Celestine, strontium sulphate, is generally speaking an uncommon mineral, but can occasionally occur in large concentrations as at Sakoany in Madagascar. Known for decades, this area has produced the world's best Celestine, both in terms of colour and quality crystals, but is often overlooked because of the volume of specimens that have flooded the market. That said, very few specimens reach the level of this stunning small cabinet piece. It features a classic, heavenly celestial blue orthorhombic Celestine crystal 4.2 cm in length, rising majestically from a bed of smaller gemmy crystals. This main crystal is textbook in form and quality, with no damage whatsoever. A remarkable display quality Celestine, simply beautiful, or should I say heavenly?
