The Endeavor mine at Cobar, Robinson County, New South Wales is one of the most famous deposits for Native Silver in Australia. This polymetallic massive sulphide deposit was discovered in the 1970s with mining commencing in 1983 under the name of Elura mine. Rebranding during the early 21st century gave it the Endeavor title. Despite being a multimillion ton operation only a few notable mineral discoveries have been reported with very fine wire Native Silver high on that list. This miniature specimen is a little different and a little richer than the individual Native Silver wires that are sometimes seen for sale from Endeavor mine, consisting of a much heavier (13 g) mass of crystallized metallic silver with small patches of matrix included. The Native Silver shows great character, with variations in colour and tarnish, with bright silvery metallic areas internally inside a cavity through pinkish metallic and dull grey-black. Under magnification, individual, sharp, pointed Native Silver crystals can been seen. Mounted on a cubic acryllic block for display, this specimen can easily be removed if required.
