Tucson, Arizona, USAThis very nice miniature Fluorite specimen from a recent discovery at Milpo mine in the remote Atacocha mining district in Peru displays a lovely aggregate of intense green cubo-octahedral Fluorite crystals on a small matrix of golden pyritohedron Pyrite crystals. Added to this, small dark brown to black rounded Sphalerite crystals are sparsely scattered across the Fluorite crystal faces along with a couple of 5 mm wide crystal aggregates of grey metallic Geocronite. The Geocronite aggregates are crystallized, with good stepped crystal faces, but the crystals are slightly bruised. One side of the main Fluorite aggregate is fractured/cleaved, but this makes a natural base to be able to display the contrasting bright golden Pyrite in a more prominent way. The other faces of the Fluorite are well formed and generally free from damage. Their surfaces are rough and pitted on the pyramidal faces and glossy on the cubic sides. With backlighting, the Fluorite really glows with a intense green unlike most other world Fluorites. A fine miniature display specimen from this fantastic new discovery.
